Frequently Asked Questions
Do you accept insurance?
No.
Why Not?
Sport Science is an independent clinic that provides wellness services and concierge Physical Therapy. The goal of my clinic is to provide comprehensive care. Examinations typically can run 1 to 2 hours and can be performed in a variety of locations. My aim is to provide a higher level of service than you will find at a traditional Physical Therapy clinic or gym.
Especially in the Twin Cities where the market is dominated by integrated health care networks this kind of individual care is disappointingly rare. My clients typically find that services are very cost competitive. This is due to advanced training and use of technology, a focus on injury prevention and the increased length of the visit. Wellness visits are typically one time events with occasional follow up for movement training or a reassessment.
For Physical Therapy, I typically conduct many fewer visits than average. I encourage frequent communication via email or text message outside of your visit which limits routine follow ups.
Is there any way to get reimbursed for your services?
Sport Science is considered an out of network provider for all insurance companies. If you have out of network benefits (call your insurance company to find out) some costs may be reimbursed. I will provide you with all necessary billing information for you to submit your claim.
Do you accept Medicare patients?
Sport Science is not a Medicare provider. By law I am not able to accept clients for normally covered services which would include Physical Therapy appointments. If you are interested in a wellness visit for a bike fit or a video running analysis this may be allowed. Please contact me for further information at sportsciencept@gmail.com.
What forms of payment are accepted?
All major credit cards are accepted. Checks are accepted and can be made out to Sport Science, LLC.
What is the cost?
Running Analysis: $150
Telehealth Running Analysis: $100
Gait (walking) Analysis: $150
Bike Fit: $200
Golf Swing Analysis: $200 (includes 2 sessions)
Return to Sport Test: $125
Concierge Physical Therapy session: $125
What is motion analysis?
Motion analysis is simply a look at you actually performing your activity--running, walking, golf, soccer, etc. Because these movements occur faster than the eye can process them slow motion video is needed to accurately capture your biomechanics. The value of this is that you can actually determine how much load your hip is accepting while running or investigate if your confidently cutting off of your surgically repaired knee.
When can I do a return to sport test?
Generally speaking whenever you are thinking about playing or practicing your sport. If you have recently had surgery you want to discuss with your surgeon or you can contact me at sportsciencept@gmail.com.
If you have had ACL reconstruction typically this is done 6 months or more from your surgery date. It can be performed earlier for appropriate candidates or if some modifications are made.
What should I bring to my visit?
Come prepared to run, bike or exercise as you normally would.
For a bike fit bring your bike and cycling shoes.
For motion analysis of running, walking, golf or return to sport testing I will be placing markers directly on your skin as much as possible. Women should wear sports bras, running shorts or tight fitting yoga pants. Men should wear shorts--running shorts are best, but anything will work.
Where are the sessions performed?
